Jeep launched this big beast which they named it Compass on 2017. The biggest advantages of this car is that there is not any direct competitors. The only car at this price range in XUV 500 which is a 7 seater and bulky. Since this car was launched on 2017 and it was too late to review it, so I thought instead of reviewing it why don't I put some of it's amazing features which for me makes this car unique from all of its competitors. The Price is starting from 15 Lakhs.

1. Interior

It's the interior where you are going to spend lots of time in. So I decided to start with the interior.

1 | 5     EMERGENCY BRAKE

First point you will notice in this image is that " Where's the handbrake?" Yeah you heard it right...

It doesn't have a manual handbrake. It has an electric handbrake. This is the main thing to be noticed in the interior(for me) because it's the feature which you will find only in high end vehicles like Audi, BMW so on.. So what makes it special? It's not just an simple hand brake button. It adds up as safety also. It will only disengage if the driver seat passenger puts the seat belt. 

Amazing right...

2 | 5      INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM

Second amazing feature is in the touch screen infotainment system. You might be thinking that what's special about this infotainment system, it's there in almost all the car even in the Kwid... But wait there's a special thing about this infotainment system. It's nit just only controls the Radio, Navigation but also the climate control for you vehicle.

So you can control the temperature from the infotainment system also.

 3 | 5     INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

Third one the that small 3.5" screen between the Tachometer and the Speedometer. The special thing about this one is it's a customizable screen. Instead of just showing the odometer, range, effeciency, you can decide what this small screen should show.

 4 | 5      COMFORT AND QUALITY

The Fourth one is the quality of the interior. I know that you might be thinking what's special about this. But in the long journeys it's not he electronics that matters but the quality and comfort of these seats. Trust me even after long journeys of 300 - 400 kms you will still feel fresh.

The quality of the leather, comfort is on the another level.

5 | 5       EXTERIOR

Look at it's exterior everything is just nicely put in to make it feel bold and stylish. Every single part in its exterior makes it unique. The nicely put it headlights is the brightest with distinctive day time running lamps( DRLs) with an LED strip.

 

This car is just worth looking at it.The Head lights blends in completely with the seven slot grills.

This car gives the feeling of an flagship cars with a cost of about 30- 40 L. This car is just amazing.

The rear also looks as amazing as it's front.. Everything is nicely put in which makes it safe, aerodynamic and stylish. Also this is the perfect offroader in this price segment. Forget to mention it, this looks similar to the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Boosting the security 

They below steps may work for other Maruti Suzuki vehicles also which comes with the ALARM button. These are the basic ways which can be done for almost all vehicle. Top end vehicles like Swift ZDI/ZXI there are other simpler ways. 

Have you ever wondered what is the use of ALARM button, even if you press it nothing happens(it doesn't seems like a button at all).
So, here are some amazing hidden features of ALARM button.

Programming Shock Sensor

Shock sensor is a very important feature to boost up the security of your vehicle. This feature will help your vehicle from any major impact. If anybody tries to intrude into your vehicle or try to hit the vehicle the alarm will trigger ON. There are two stages of alarm mode, first acting as warning to the intruder and second, full blast mode. These are turned OFF by default, so you need to switch ON this feature.

1. Open the Driving Door(Obviously you should open the driver door to get in the car).
2. With the vehicle key turn the ignition ON and then turn it OFF.(no need of switching ON the engine)
3. Press and release this security (Alarm) button four times.

    4. Then press and hold the security switch till the four-chirp sounds.

    5. The four-chirp sound confirms the entry into Shock sensor ON/OFF programming mode.

    6. Press the lock key button (in the Key) while holding security button. A single chirp sound                    confirms the mode changed to shock sensor ON.

    7. While the two-Siren mode confirms the mode changed to shock sensor OFF.

    8. Release the security switch.(Above steps should be done while holding the alarm button.

    9. Turn the ignition ON.

Shock Sensor Sensitivity Adjustment via Key

Full blast adjustment (it means the long siren for eg. when you open the door when the vehicle is Armed/ Locked) 

There are 16 levels of adjustments for the Shock Sensor. These levels can be done with the help of vehicle key.

     1. Press Unlock button on Key to Unlock (Disarm the system)

     2. Press Lock button (this step should be done within 2 seconds of key Unlock) on the key (Arm             the system).

     3. Press both the Lock and Unlock simultaneously for at least 3 seconds. Siren will give Long               chirp to confirm entry into sensitivity adjustment mode.
         a.  Press Lock button to adjust the sensitivity one step lower. Siren will give one chirp every                    time lock button is pressed till level 1 where it will give a long chirp. At level 1 full blast                      mode will be switched OFF.

         b.  Similarly pressing Unlock button will increase the sock sensor sensitivity one step higher                    and every time the siren will give single chirp. At level 16 the siren will give long chirp.

Setting up PIN for your vehicle.

Yeah! you heard it correct. You can set the PIN for your vehicle. This can be useful when the transmitter is not working properly. But it's not that kind of PIN that you are thinking (like typing numbers). So, how to set it up.

For setting up PIN also you need the same ALARM button.

    1. Disarm( unlock) the system/car.

    2. Open the driver door.

    3. Turn the ignition ON then OFF(no need of switching ON the engine).

    4. Withing 5 seconds press and release the Alarm/Valet button 5 times. A short chirp followed by the long chirp confirms the entry into PIN mode.

    5. Now press the Lock button on key, after the single chirp enter the first digit(within 1-9) by pressing the Alarm button. For e.g. to enter 4 press and release the alarm button 4 times.

    6. Then press the Lock button on Key, after two chirps enter the second digit similar way we did in step 5.

    7. Press Lock button on Key and after three chirps enter the third digit.

    8. Press Lock Button on Key and after four chirps enter fourth digit.

This is how to set up 4 digit PIN for your vehicle.

Setting up Anti-Theft feature in Music System

   Anti-theft feature is basically for discouraging thefts, as this features disable the audio system when it's installed in the other vehicles. 

The audio system will become operable in other vehicle if only the PIN is entered.

The following steps will help you to set this function.

    1. Press the VOL push PWR knob to switch of the Music system.

    2. Hold down the buttons numbered [1] and [6] simultaneously.

    3. Then press the VOLpushPWR to switch ON the audio system. [SECURITY] will be displayed.

   

    4. Press the [UP] button and the button numbered [1] simultaneously. 

 
    5. The above step will direct to the PIN entry section.

    6. Enter 4-digit number to be registered as PIN using the buttons numbered from [1] to [4].
        After entering the digits it will be displayed like this.

    7. Press and hold the TUNE FOLDER PUSH knob for 1 second or longer.

    8. After pressing the TUNE FOLDER PUSH button for 1 second a [COMPLETE] message will be          displayed, which means the anti-theft feature is programmed. As shown below.

Adjusting Brightness of all Interior Lighting.

You can adjust the brightness of all lights that are present inside your vehicle. This includes the infotainment cluster including the AC button lights, the Power window lights (where auto is written) etc.

Below are the following steps to adjust the brightness of the Light.

    1. Turn ON the battery of the vehicle by turning the Key.

    2. Then turn ON the parking lights/headlights.

    3. Rotate the right knob of the speedometer as shown.

    4. This will display some boxes instead of the main Odometer.
      (a) If you rotate the knob clockwise the Brightness will increase.
      (b) The counter clockwise rotation of the knob will decrease the intensity.

Is it possible to put diesel into petrol car.... or vice-versa

I know that most of you people might be thinking that what will happen if I fill my vehicle with wrong fuel... Or since Diesel is much cheaper than Petrol, why don't I fill my petrol vehicle with Diesel, it will be profitable right. Wait! do you know what will be the consequences by doing so..
You will be surprised to know that more than 50,000 people do this every year. So what will happen if you put wrong type of fuel in your car..

Basic things you need to know about the fuels.

      1  - Flash Point

So what actually is flash point? Flash point is lowest temperature at which the vapors of the fuel will ignite when given an ignition source. To know in more depth about flash point click the link below.

Basically more volatile liquid would have the low flash point. Since Petrol is more volatile than Diesel. Petrol will catch fire more rapidly than Diesel.

        Petrol    :-    −43 °C (−45 °F)  

       Diesel   :-     >52 °C (126 °F) 

        2  -  Autoignition temperature

Autoignition temperature is the temperature at which the vapor ignites spontaneously without ignition source. The reason why I made the ignition source bold is because that's the main difference between the Flash point and Autoignition temperature of fuel.

Petrol       :-      280 °C

Diesel       :-      210 - 230 °C

Since the Gasoline( petrol) has a larger auto ignition or self ignition temperature than the Diesel, the Petrol engine requires a external Ignition source that is spark plug whereas Diesel requires Injectors.

Putting Diesel in Petrol Car.

1.  What will happen?

This is not so common because the Diesel Nozzle is generally more bigger than the Petrol nozzle. Diesel is more denser than petrol. When Diesel is put into petrol car, the Diesel doesn't evaporate like Petrol does, hence there will not be any spark. If at all your vehicle gets started it may because the of petrol left in the tank, and eventually the engine will cutoff after running upto two- three kilometres. 

     2.  Damages it may cause.

Luckily if you got the idea of what you did "do not start the Engine". If at all you ended up in starting the engine, then the Diesel will clog the spark plug and the fuel systems, which will lead to the misfire, and the black fumes coming out of the exhaust system. This will damage some serious components of the Engine.

     3.   What to do.

First thing to do is, keep the key far away from the Ignition system(Do not switch on the vehicle). Second, call the mechanic as soon as possible. Or drain all the fuel in the tank and fill up with the Petrol. Don't forget to clean all the parts of fuel systems like fuel pipes, injectors, Spark plugs etc. Easiest way is to call the mechanic and he will do all required necessary things.

Putting Petrol in Diesel car.  

     1. What will happen.

This happens more often because the diesel nozzle has bigger as said above the petrol nozzle can easily get into the diesel fuel tank. The engine gets louder under load, the exhaust will get more smoky when driving and the vehicle may not get started.

What happens is, the Diesel has a lesser auto or self ignition temperature than that of petrol. Thus petrol needs an external source to get ignited whereas Diesel has injectors. So the compression made in the engine will not be enough to ignite the Petrol, hence the engine will not get started.

     2.  Damages it may cause.

When petrol is poured into the Diesel engine the lubrication of the engine decreases, which eventually lead to the rubbing of the metal components. These metals components will get circulated with the fuel to the engine system due to which some major parts of the engine will get effected.

     3.   What to do.

When such types of mistake happens it's always better to switch off the vehicle and call the mechanic. He will do the necessary things needed. Basically every engine components needs to be cleaned, the fuels is to be drained out and fill it with diesel.

THINGS NEEDED TO BE CHECKED BEFORE PURCHASING AN USED CAR

Performance checklist needed before purchasing an used car

If you looking for an used car, and you are confused about what all things need to be verified or checked before purchasing, then these performance checklist will help you to do so. Going through this post will give you an clear idea that what all necessary things should be done before making a deal for used car.

 1)        EXTERIOR CHECK 

• CHECK THE PAINT

Check the Paint

• Check whether there is any difference in the color of paint between its body part
• If there is a thick coat of paint or if the paint of the car is too dark than expected.

These things will help you to know that if the car is being repainted or not.
Also just randomly go through the parts of the car, to check whether there is any dent or scratch.
Don't forget to check the headlights of the car.

• CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE TIRES

Check all the tires of the vehicle (DON'T FORGET TO CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE STEPNEY TIRE). Check whether the tires the worn evenly. If not it may be due to bad alignment or improper wheel balancing.

Bad alignment can be caused due to the improper suspension management or may be because of the steering wheel. 

Improper wheel balancing can be caused due to bends in the rim or alloy.

• CHECK ALL THE WINDOWS

      Similar type of code should be present in all   the windows of the car. For example:- In this       case the code present here is BF, so all the   windows of this car will have the same code.   Any difference in the code of the car means that   the window has been replaced, which means   that   may be the car has undergone some severe   crash. Be aware of this thing, as most of the   people aren't aware of this code. In some car   numbers like 16.. may be present instead of the  code this numbers means the year of   manufacturing of the windows. If the date of   purchase of car is suppose 2016 and the number   on the window is 2017, that means the window   has been replaced after the car is being                                                                                                     purchased. 

3)  ENGINE CHECKING

• LOOK UNDER THE HOOD

Its better to always have a mechanic with you. This will help you to have a better understanding of the vehicle. The mechanic will help you to know the engine condition of the car. He will also give you a clear cut information of the car, like how it was maintained, how regularly it was serviced etc.Also check the color of the engine oil( if its too dark in color then it may be due to the bad condition of the engine).

• CHECK THE COLOR OF THE FUMES FROM EXHAUST

This mainly applies for the diesel car. If the fumes through the exhaust are too dark in color, then the car has been not properly maintained or may be the engine is not in proper condition.

Notice the odometer readings also.

• GO FOR A TEST DRIVE

  If possible take the car out for spin. While taking test drive check the following things:

             -If there is any vibration or any sort of noise in the car. If so where it is coming from.
             -All indications are working properly.
             -If the clutch and the gears( for manual) are in proper condition or not. Don't forget to check the condition of the brakes.
             -If possible drive the car in all possible road( hills, highway, city roads etc). This will give a clear idea about the condition of the car.
             -Try to drive the car in all gears and at various speeds. For                                                        example, gears starting from 1st to the last gear and for speed from                                                        10 kmph to 80-100 kmph.

3) Interior checking

AIR CONDITIONING 

Carefully go through all the controls of ac, check whether the blower, temperature control etc all are working properly. Check whether the AC is able to cool the car properly.

INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM

   - Check whether the touchscreen of the infotainment system is working properly. 

   - Check the navigation system.

   - Check the apple car play, android auto, Mirrorlink is working properly.

   - Check the whether the reverse camera is working properly.

DASHBOARD

 A properly maintained car should also have a well maintained dashboard. Well maintained in the sense properly polished. Some scratches may be there but don't forget it's an used car. Small scratches can be compromised. 

CHECK THE TRUNK PROPERLY

 A proper trunk should have all the tools(jack, tool kit used for removing tire) and a medical kit. Check if the trunk is maintained well.
